College of Education professor to be recognized at national conference for lifetime mentor award

A Georgia Southern University professor has been awarded the Jane E. Myers Lifetime Mentor Award for significant contribution to the counseling profession.

According to a GS press release, College of Education Professor Brandon Hunt, Ph.D., was announced the winner of the award. With more than 26 years of experience instructing counselors, Hunt said she was honored to receive the award.

“I felt honored and humble,” Hunt said. “I have had the opportunity to work with many wonderful students and faculty over the years and to be acknowledged for my mentoring work is pretty amazing.”

Hunt said in a GS press release that that the opportunity to monitor counselors as a full-time counselor for three years led her to become a counselor educator.

According to a GS press release, the purpose of the Jane E. Myers Lifetime Mentor Awards is to recognize and encourage those who have worked hard in the counseling profession for at least 15 years.

Hunt will be recognized at the 2018 American Counseling Association Conference.
