Sports Catch Up: Eagles Win Two Back to Back Home Games Against Panthers and James Madison

Georgia Southern put two more wins under their belt after a 79-49 win against rival Georgia State and a 72-61 win against James Madison, the eagles are now 15-6 overall and 7-5 in the Sunbelt. 

Both the Eagle and the Panthers struggled to score during the first quarter up until GS Le’Andrea Gillis made 4 back to back 3’s to give the Eagles the lead.  

  • GS led 43-28 at halftime after they went on a 15-0 run. Terren Ward led in scoring finishing the game with 19 points.

  2. Gillis: 17 pts, 5 3FGM
  3. Taya Gibson: 8 pts, 6 FTM
  4. Lydia Freeman: 6 pts
  • Head Coach Anita Howard said, “We needed that. I was glad to see we shook off those last two losses and put on a good showing for the fans in Hanner.” 

The Eagles took the season series from James Madison with the help of 25 points from Terren Ward and 20 forced turnovers. 

  • GS started with back to back threes and went into halftime 30-28, Ward made 6 out of 7 free throws in the last minutes to help secure a win.
