The Memorial College Center was buzzing with conversation, laughter and clippers on Oct. 30 at the annual Barbershop talk hosted by MOVE, an organization under the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
MOVE, an acronym for Men of Vision and Excellence, is a program designed to support African-American men from college entry to graduation through mentorship.
“I thought it was fire, I do like the community it’s welcoming and warm,” said Joshua Musawwir, a sophomore accounting major. “This campus does a good job of trying to include people,” he continued.
The event served as a networking opportunity for the community, including members of MOVE, to discuss achievements, sports and share opinions over food.
“It allows people to come together and bond, it shows the power of connection,” said Justin Cosby, the Multicultural Affairs Coordinator.
Haircuts were provided by Georgia Southern alumnus Demetrius Hurst, who became friends with Cosby during their freshman year in the program.
