Showing an impressive season so far of 7-2, the Eagles look to further improve their record this coming weekend at the University of Florida Aquafina Invitational.

Iowa State (6-4)- February 23, 9:00 a.m.

Although a less impressive record than the Eagles, the Cyclones still have a winning season so far of 6-4 and have decently impressive statistics.

On the offensive they look to be a decent opponent for the Eagles, having a total of 66 hits for the season, and 42 runs total. Striking players to watch for at bat are Sydney Stiles who has a batting average of .25, a total of eight hits, and six runs off those hits and Sami Williams with a batting average of .406, 13 hits, and seven runs off of those hits.

Illinois State (4-6)- February 23, 2:00 p.m. and February 24, 11:30 a.m.

Illinois has a tight losing season so far, being 4-6 in total and only winning games in neutral locations.

Offensively they don’t look too threatening, only having 42 hits for the season and 24 runs in total.

Although the redbirds don’t look to have any standout players, but junior Allison Spence bats an average of .333, and has a total of nine hits and three runs.

Maryland (2-7)- February 24, 9:00 a.m.

Having a so far losing season of 2-7, Maryland looks even less impressive when it comes to offensive stats.

Maryland has had 42 hits this season in total, but only has had 14 runs off of those hits. Skylynne Ellazar leads the team and has had 10 hits so far this season and three runs off her hits.

As the Eagles look to take on Maryland they shouldn’t have too much trouble as long as they play their game and keep their moments they’ve had for the season going.

University of Florida (8-1) – February 25, 1:30 p.m.

Although they’re coming off a fresh loss against the Ragin’ Cajuns, UF remains currently ranked number one in the nation with their impressive record of 8-1.

Looking at their stats, one can tell this is going to be a challenging game for the Eagles, as the Gators have had 67 hits, and 67 runs in total from their nine games played alone.

One key Gator the Eagles need to keep their eye out for when she steps up to the plate is Amanda Lorenz, who bats an average .438, and has had a total of 14 hits and 10 runs for the season so far.

Georgia Southern (7-2)

Coming in with only five returning starters and a new coach, fans weren’t too sure what to expect from the Eagles, but they have so far proved themselves to be more than prepared for this season ahead.

Having only played nine games, GS has been hot on the bats, having a batting average of .308, swinging and having 78 hits and 39 runs total. Three players are tied across the board leading the Eagles in hits- Shelby Wilson, Hannah Farrell, and Logan Harrell all have had nine hits so far for the season.

New coach Kim Dean has really proved herself as well as the team, showing that these girls are ready to take on even the hardest of competitors, even defending national runner-up Florida Gators.
