Since 2012, Georgia Southern University has repeatedly been named as a military friendly school, according to Coastal Courier.
President Mararreo was quoted as saying “Veterans, service members and military-connected students make up nearly 14% of the University’s student population… [This designation] underscores the supportive campus environment and academic offerings we have created for military-affiliated students in developing sustainable and meaningful education paths for the military community.”
GSU touts a range of support services for military-affiliated students including fee waivers, scholarships, and Military Resource Centers on the Statesboro, Armstrong, and Liberty campuses respectively.
Georgia Southern also offers courses directly at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield’s Education Center which allows students to “realize their full potential.” That’s according to Alejandra Sosa Pieroni, Ed.D., Executive Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing and Student Success at GSU. Military-connected students can also complete a graduate degree without ever having to leave base.
The distinction comes from VIQTORY Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs, STEM Jobs and Military Spouse magazines. These Military Friendly ratings are determined through the evaluation of public data and proprietary data gathered through the annual Military Friendly survey process.
