Preparations for 2Chainz Concert

As the semester comes to a close, Memory Littles and the Office of Student Activities (OSA) have worked hard to put together a concert for Georgia Southern Students. This year, it’s 2Chainz. This Friday, April 26, the rapper will be coming to Hanner Fieldhouse at 7 pm.

  • “Since it’s the end of the semester, people like to unwind and get ready for finals, and that’s when I try to have these concerts,” Littles said.

Since it was announced on April 2, Littles said she has gotten a lot of feedback from students.

  • “The response has been pretty good, but some mixed reviews. Generally speaking, everyone’s excited.” Tickets went on sale on April 3, and within the first three minutes, around 300 tickets were sold.

Although Statesboro is a small town with not a lot of opportunities for concerts or big events like this, that does not stop OSA from doing the most for the students here.

  • Littles said, “We always strive to offer once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for students since it’s so hard to have access to concerts like this here in Statesboro.”

Planning an event like this takes lots of planning and preparation, but to sum it up, Littles said it best.

  • “Once we decide what our budget is, we want to look at what students are listening to, and what genres are popular. We then have to pick out a venue, and normally, Hanner is the best option for that.”

As far as the actual concert goes, I got some insight as to what students can expect.

  • “His set should be about 45 minutes to an hour. We also have a few openers. We have a DJ, and we have also extended the invitation to some of our student organizations to see if they would want to participate. This is special because it would be such a cool opportunity for them to look back on,” Littles said.

Doors open at 6:30, and we hope everyone has a great time!
