As finals are coming up, it is important to remember that perfection is something that is hard to achieve. So, is it possible to be perfect? It depends on the person. Perfection is subjective, and based on your own values, it can be attainable.
Many students are tired and are trying to power through to the end of the semester. Here are some helpful tips from the counseling center to help you:
- Take at least 10 minutes each day and do something that brings you joy.
- If you are feeling overwhelmed, it is okay to take a break.
- Tell yourself positive affirmations.
- Write down the things you have accomplished recently.
“A lot of times in assignments, we might feel like we don’t want to turn in stuff because it’s not quite done, and that’s when it becomes problematic when it impacts your functionality and it gets in the way of you doing things you have to do,” said Stephanie, Counseling Center intern.
Striving for perfection is not always a bad thing; in fact, for some, it is what keeps them motivated to be better. When you feel the stress of trying to be perfect, that might be a sign that it is time to reflect, as it could affect your mental health.
