Finding things to do around town can be tough, especially if you’re on a budget or just don’t know where to go. Savannah is best known for its ghost and history tours, museums and recently gained attention for its baseball team, the Savannah Bananas.
While these are worthwhile activities, they can be expensive.
Thankfully, Savannah offers a ton of budget-friendly activities that are equally fun and worth your time!
Local live music
Savannah has a great music scene composed of talented local musicians and bands that play a range of genres. Weekly shows take place at several businesses and venues, including El Rocko, The Sentient Bean, Lodge of Sorrows and Starland Yard. Many venues are 18+, so don’t worry if you’re not 21!
Forsyth Farmers Market
Every Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm at Forsyth Park you’ll find local produce, baked goods, meat, art and coffee all sold by different vendors. Some products are expensive compared to typical grocery store prices, but it’s a great chance to connect and give back to the community.
Tybee Island
Going to the beach is always an affordable and fun way to get out of the house for a while. As long as you pack your own food and drinks, all you have to pay for is parking, which is $4 per hour. Another perk about going to Tybee this time of year is that school is back in session, so it’s less crowded and parking is easier to find.
Sightseeing in the Historic District
Savannah’s guided walking tours are popular among tourists, but those usually cost a minimum of $30 per person. A just as fun and free option is to walk around by yourself or with a friend in the historic district. There’s beautiful architecture and nature to view, as well as interpretive signs that detail some of Savannah’s most notable landmarks.
