Georgia Southern’s Eagle Experience is an annual series that invites new students to get involved through campus activities. It’s something you should want to participate in, be excited for and a great way to make the most of your first month at GS.
What is it?
- The Eagle Experience is a series of planned activities and events on all GS campuses. These events are geared anywhere from academics to campus life fun.
“Eagle Experience is about helping all students find a sense of belonging and make a smooth transition to Georgia Southern,” Associate Vice President for Student Development, Dr. Ken Gassiot said. “Students getting involved, having easier access with less barriers, and finding support is the most gratifying part of helping lead and plan Eagle Experience.”
Whether you’re a first year, graduate, international, military affiliated, or online student, the schedule has something that was designed and intended just for you, according to Dr. Gassiot.
Students should check out Eagle Engage here for information about events and activities happening across all of our campuses as well as watch out for daily text messages and weekly emails on what’s happening.
When is it?
- It begins on Operation Move-In and continues until the end of August. There’s something happening almost every day on every campus.
Why should I go?
- Data has shown that students who attended at least ten events their first semester have a 3.0 GPA or higher compared to those who attended less, according to Dr. Gassiot.
“Attending events across all of our campuses is a fantastic way to feel connected to your new college home, meet new people, find others who like what you like, and see how diverse our university is,” Dr. Gassiot said. “Free food, prizes, music, and fun activities are also good for the soul!”
