Goodfortune Market hopes to provide easy access to fresh, farm-to-table groceries in Savannah.
“I saw firsthand how there is no appropriate resource to purchase fresh, quality food in this neighborhood,” Becca Goossen, owner of Goodfortune, said. “Even more so there is very few places in greater Savannah to purchase locally-sourced food items.”
Located on Waters Ave. near Daffin Park, Goodfortune Market offers produce and other grocery staples.
Goossen aims to create personal connections with customers in order to understand and keep in stock the products they want.
“Our small neighborhood market can respond more to what community members want by having greater relationships with more food providers,” Goossen said. “It’s a small grocery store, so the experience is pretty intimate.”
Pre-made sandwiches, baked goods and coffee will also be available, providing another element of convenience for the neighborhood.
It’s not only connection that’s important to Goossen, but also tradition.
The same building that houses Goodfortune used to be another small grocery store called DeLoach Grocery. Similar to Goossen, the owners also resided in the same neighborhood.
“This grocery store is really just a steward of the legacy of quality access to food that this neighborhood was always supposed to have,” she said.
You can stop by Goodfortune Market Tuesday through Sunday from 8 am to 5 pm.
