With authentic African and Jamaican dishes, Africaboro brings a taste of home for African students, while introducing these flavors to residents of statesboro.
Africaboro is located in downtown Statesboro at 719 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Statesboro GA, 30458. The restaurant recently opened its doors to the community on Sept. 1.
Africaboro highlights staple African dishes like Jollof rice and Egusi and Fufu. They even offer African drinks like Maltina and many Jamaican sodas.
“My favorites are the snacks! The beef patties and puff puffs are the most comforting,” Owner Adenike Ogundare said.
Ogundare first opened an African market, Ibile Tropical Market, in Statesboro to supply her and other Nigerian students with supplies to cook authentic food. Before opening this market she would commute three hours to get cooking supplies.
“Making the drive to Atlanta back to Statesboro was exhausting, so I decided to open my own market to supply my restaurant,” Ogundare said.
Marketing to mainly students, Africaboro is available on DoorDash and Grubhub. You can also dine in and be seated inside or out.
“I hope to reach students by opening my own food truck near campus one day,” Ogundare said..
