The True Blue 5K was held bright and early at 8 A.M. On Saturday at the RAC, people of all ages were able to participate. Registration took place from 7 to 7:30 A.M. allowing plenty of time for runners to get ready for the event.
“I am 74 years old and I’m proud of it and I run pretty slowly but I love to do these races because they challenge me and motivate me, this one is a very special occasion and it’s really nice to be a part of this,” runner Dr. Duke Miles said.
Whether seasoned runners or first-time participants, everyone came together to support school spirit and fitness. At the finish line, the Georgia Southern band and cheerleaders encouraged runners to not give up.
“It always hurts in the middle of the race but crossing the finish line there’s a certain feeling that kind of makes it feel, you know… accomplished,” runner Trent Jackson said.
This 8th annual True Blue 5K at Georgia Southern was a display of school spirit and community support.
