Thursday brought great costumes, free candy and fun. Some offices also joined in on the festivities by going all in with decorating their doors. Throughout the day, students showed off their best costumes and shared their festive plans for Halloween night.
Marcus Moore, a freshman business management major, donned a bright banana costume. His Halloween plans included joining a few of his friends downtown, all dressed as bananas. He said they planned to have a “banana takeover and wage war on plantains.”
Another fruit joins the mix. Matthew Morris, a sophomore health science major, showed out with their “Pumpkin Head” costume. “I’ve seen a lot of my brethren being carved up, and it has upset me a little bit. I’m here to advocate for them.” Their costume consisted of an actual pumpkin that they had carved this past weekend. Other plans included hanging out with their roommate.
Engineering took the spotlight with Mario. Senior IT major Michael Woodcock joined faculty member Virginia Wickline to duplicate his previous Mario Kart as a project in collaboration with high school students. The carts have “automatic emergency braking” and were “originally kids’ toys that could go about seven miles an hour and now they can go about 37.”
