Donald Trump has been officially declared the 47th President of the United States. There are mixed feelings towards the election results. Here’s what some students had to say about the outcome.

“I’m truly encouraged by the outcome of this election and feel confident that brighter days are ahead for America. I believe that Trump and the team he’s building are focused on advancing and prioritizing the interests and well-being of all Americans, whereas I felt that Kamala Harris and the Democratic left are leaning toward globalist policies which could compromise our nation’s core values and possibly the country’s stability. I’m certain that my personal freedoms will be protected and that hopefully, with a renewed focus on our country and its economic health, the American dream will be more attainable as my friends and I are about to begin careers and experience life in a new chapter” said Lanier West.
“The outcome of the 2024 election wasn’t a surprise to me but I expected it to be much closer. I’m not excited about our next four years but I know that it’s better than the alternative option we were given. Certain issues like abortion scare me due to health complications women can have when giving birth and would need an abortion that they won’t be able to receive which will result in death due to childbirth. There are lots of issues that our country has that the past 6 years have not helped with. I’m hoping this can be a step in the right direction and hope the 2028 election can carry on whatever good is brought with the 47th president of America” said Jacob Serio.
“Me personally, I have to say I’m pretty excited about Trump winning. I know that some people don’t see things the way I do, but I’m not looking for a best friend or someone who I admire or “want to grow up to be”. I’m looking for a person who can and will run this country. Many people including myself are just looking for our economy and country to improve as a whole. I’m excited to see how he turns this country around, whether the prices of things in this economy or border control. As of right now it’s extremely hard for people to live their day-to-day lives normally without worrying about their future, I hope this brings them peace knowing that the future is bright, even if they don’t see it that way” said Amya Christian.
“I think the outcome was good. I think the economy will get better and threats of wars will stop. All the illegal immigrants that are stealing jobs will go away” said Ben Bacon.

“I’m feeling very conflicted. I’m happy I got to participate in an election for once…but it’s dismissing at the same time. It feels like my vote held no weight in the end. Although I know that’s not true. My life will be greatly affected. If policies go through, my whole future will be changed. I may have to drop out of college and stop pursuing my dreams due to lack of funding” said Zaria Boyd.
“To the people of color that voted for him, this is what you asked for. For the women who voted for him, this is what you asked for. Do not complain when we have our rights taken away from us, because this is what you asked for” said Akili Goodwin.
“I feel like this was a critical election and we had a lot riding on this election. I am not satisfied with the results, but I will be voting again in the midterms. I feel like my life is about to change. As an African American woman, this was a huge loss for us, and I hope that the President will protect the rights of all Americans regardless of their gender, race, or political views.” said Chyanne White.
“I feel like a lot of people lowkey thought that Kamala Harris wouldn’t win, but there was definitely an atmosphere of disappointment in communities. Our lives are definitely going to change. For the better? Perhaps not. But hopefully, everyone realizes that there is one to save us. His name is God and his son is Jesus. No matter the circumstance, he will always be here” said Zarie Carmichael.
“I believe Kamala [Harris] would have won if she would have started her campaign earlier. I feel like she understands what it means to be middle class. That’s what made her a strong candidate. She knows what an American is and knows how we feel. But it was a good race and everything. Both sides fought well…,” said Deshawn Simmons.
“I am not a fan of the results, but sometimes you just gotta deal with it… It’s just something you gotta deal with and accept that he [Donald Trump] is President. I think my life will change, but not in the drastic way that people think it will. Although it is a possibility, I don’t think they will go through with Project 2025,” said James Younge.
