On Monday, candidate campaigning for Student Government elections will begin and last until March 15.
As stated on the Georgia Southern website, the SGA Executive Officer and Senator positions to be filled are President, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Business & Finance, President’s Cabinet and Senators.
The Executive and Presidential debates will take place on March 4.
“Students will receive a ballot to their email directly for them to vote that way. Um, It’s an opportunity for students who are passionate about advocacy on this campus–and both campuses really—to, you know, run and be put in a position that allows them to make the change that they want to see,” Lindsey Breaux, one of the government’s graduate assistants for SGA said.
Candidates have a few steps to complete prior to campaigning.
“So, first a candidate would fill out the intent to run form where they will fill out all their information, what position they are running for. They will be required to attend an online information session, and then they will be required to sign and submit a document that outlines our election guidelines just as confirmation that they understand what the rules are for elections,” said Breaux.
According to the Georgia Southern website, winners will be announced on March 13. Following the March 24 SGA Senate meeting for the winners to be recognized, they will be sworn in at the Eagle Excellence Awards on April 16.
