Plans for an “economic blackout” on Friday, Feb. 28 have made rounds on social media. The consumer-based boycott is in protest of corporations that have complied with the Trump administration’s recent DEI rollback orders.
“We are not a political party. We are not a protest. We are a movement of people, unionizing to take back control of our economy, government and future of our country,” the People’s Union USA, the organization behind the boycott, said on their website.
The head of the organization, John Schwarz said on the site, “I am not a politician. I am not a corporate backed activist. I am just a man who has lived through struggle, seen the truth, and decided to do something about it.”
The websitey claims that corporations have “stolen our financial freedom”, “manipulated our government” and “kept power in the hands of the wealthy elite.,”
