Celebrate Together, an event that builds fellowship and community at Armstrong, is quickly approaching. This year’s annual block party will take place on Oct. 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This year, “Celebrate Spirit Week” will be held from Oct. 27 to Oct. 30. The theme for Spirit Week is “Been to the Year 3000.” Events like the residence hall decorating competition, limited edition Celebrate Spirit Week T-Shirt grabs, doormat decorating, a Toy Story movie and pajama night will be happening throughout the week.
Spirit Week’s most anticipated event, the Celebrate Together Block Party, will feature over seventy booths, free food and drinks, t-shirts and merchandise giveaways, a rock climbing wall, archery tag, a bookstore sale, a live DJ and more. Not only will students and faculty have the opportunity to participate in this event, but members of the surrounding Savannah community are also welcome to attend.
The Start of Celebrate Spirit Week
After Georgia Southern University and Armstrong Atlantic State University consolidated in 2018, the university sought ways to honor ASU’s legacy and relationship with the Savannah community.
“Armstrong State had a really big identity in this community,” said Bradley Mullis, editorial specialist for GSU University Communications and Marketing. Celebrate Together is meant to show off campus pride and honor Armstrong’s history, but it is celebrated as an event that brings the entire community together.
“It’s events like Celebrate that really show you the value of the Armstrong Campus, and really bring people out here to say this is more than just a place where people go to class. This is a campus. It’s an environment. It’s community. And I think that that’s what’s really great about Celebrate, is you get to show people our campus community and show that it’s greater than just a school,” said Mullis.
