A Society of Professional Journalists interest meeting will be held this Thursday at Sanford Hall in Room 2002, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Founded in 1909 at DePauw University in Indiana, the Society of Professional Journalists is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to providing resources and information for current and future journalists, according to the SPJ website.

The meeting will be led by Jennifer Kowalewski, multimedia journalism assistant professor.

“SPJ is an important organization for working journalists, as well as journalism students,” Kowalewski said in an email.

With more than 250 chapters nationwide, SPJ has a membership of around 9,000, which includes print, online and broadcast journalists, as well as journalism educators and students.
