The cuisine! As amazing as our usual Southern food is, Huey’s on Main brings classic New Orleans dishes that you can’t really get anywhere else. Grace Brattain, the lead bartender at Huey’s, notes that it is one of the few spots in Statesboro where guests can enjoy raw oysters and live music, a rare find that adds to the restaurant’s authentic New Orleans feel. There are also vegan and vegetarian options, inclusive for a variety of dietary needs, just make sure to give your hostess or waiter a heads up!

“The pasta jambalaya is a classic,” Grace says, “I’ve had both kids and older people order it, and it has gotten no complaints whatsoever. I also really like shrimp and grits.”

Student discounts AND specials?

Along with weekly specials, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, they offer a 10% discount for students. They also always have a happy hour from 3 to 6 for food and drink specials!

It’s simple. If you come in and show your Eagle ID, you can get 10% off your entire check! Grace adds, “We also offer free beignets for anyone who comes in with a valid student ID, and it doesn’t have to be just Georgia Southern. It can be any other college in the area!”

Beyond its lively atmosphere and delicious food, Huey’s on Main is committed to giving back to the Statesboro community. Grace shared that the restaurant has worked with local food banks, provided catering for doctors’ offices, and previously offered $2 kids’ meals to help families impacted by reductions in food assistance. Moving forward, she hopes that Huey’s continues growing its community outreach.
