Starting on June 1, The Galley will see changes to its operating hours, menu options, and dining facilities. These changes come with Georgia Southern’s expanded partnership with Elior Collegiate Dining — a company that already provides dining services on the East Georgia Campus.
Key Changes
The most notable change will be extended weekend hours. The Galley will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. seven days a week to better accommodate students’ schedules.
There will be a wider variety of menu items offered to students, including grab-and-go meals, more global cuisine and a larger menu with expanded options for students with dietary restrictions
“Students can expect more allergen-friendly, plant-based, and customizable options, along with clearer nutrition and allergen information to support informed choices,” wrote April Burke, the director of divisional communications and digital strategy.
Student employment opportunities will still be offered through on-campus dining, with the potential for additional positions as new dining concepts are introduced. More information about student employment will be available closer to the transition.
The university also plans to make updates to the dining spaces on campus to create a more modern and community-centered dining experience. There will continue to be an emphasis on sustainability and student feedback.
“Opportunities for feedback will be shared with students, and input will be used to refine dining options, hours, and services over time,” Burke wrote.
Details Coming Soon
The university has provided general information, but details about specific menu options and updated meal plan prices have yet to be announced. University officials said pricing information will be available to students on April 20, following the board of regents’ meeting.
Additional information about dining concepts, grab-and-go options, and daily menu options will be available before the June 1 launch date. Hours for other campus dining locations, like Chick-fil-a and Starbucks, have not been finalized.
Students can expect more information and details regarding any potential disruptions during the transition period to be announced ahead of the rollout.
