Operation V-Day

Brooke Thompson

Valentine’s Day is approaching, and if you have not started preparing, you’re already behind. Lucky for you, we’ve got some ideas that will save your butt. Local businesses have shared some of their Valentine’s Day specials and promotions, so we have compiled a list of steps to help this romantic day go as smooth as Marvin Gaye’s voice.

South Beach Tanning, located on South Main Street across from Georgia Southern University.

Step One: Preparation

South Beach Tanning Company is offering double the fun!  On February 13 and 14, you can get a buy two, get two of any level tan or sunless session. If you feel like you look too pale in your Valentine’s dress or are already thinking about Spring Break, this deal is perfect for you!

Step Two: Find the Perfect Gift

Struggling to find the perfect gift for your significant other? We have some ideas for you.

67 Styles is offering some awesome services. You can get:

  • “Love Me Tender” one-hour Swedish cinnamon milk massage for $50.
  • “Salted Caramel Chocolate Truffle Couples Escape” which is a one-hour-per-person back treatment with hot stone massage that is $150 per couple.
  • “Chocolate Covered Strawberry Bliss” that is a 45-minute back treatment for $60.
  • “Cupid’s Cocktail” which is a one-hour spa plus pedicure with a hot stone massage for $45.

Whatever you do, do not forget the flowers. Colonial House of Flowers is having a Georgia Southern Valentine’s Day! Their special flower arrangement is in a GS tumbler with a “Baby Freedom” plush and a “Field of Flowers” candle that was inspired by Paulson Stadium. They are the Official Florist of GS Athletics, and a few football players will even be on hand to make deliveries. They accept Eagle Express as well!

The Beaver House, located on South Main Street in downtown Statesboro.

Step Three: Dinner Date

While Statesboro has many great options when it comes to taking your significant other out, a traditional idea for a romantic dinner would be The Beaver House. One item on their Valentine’s Day menu is a tender cut of prime rib with a half-dozen fried fantail shrimp and a stuffed potato for $23.99 while another option is a boneless grilled chicken breast with angel hair pasta and steamed broccoli with hollandaise, and your choice of marinara or alfredo sauce. They will be open from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and you can make reservations at (912) 764-2821.

Step Four: Get to work! What are you waiting for?

Go ahead and get everything together now because bae will not be happy with a “Happy Valentine’s Day, boo!” text. Trust us. Also, if you don’t have someone to spend Valentine’s Day with, you can still buy yourself some chocolate when it goes on sale. You’re worth it.
