State of emergency issued for Bulloch; GS administrators uncertain of hurricane’s track

Governor Nathan Deal issued a state of emergency for 13 counties along Georgia’s coastal area, including Bulloch County.
The emergency declaration is effective from Oct. 5 to Oct. 12.
According to the hurricane tracker from Weather Underground, as of 8:00 p.m. on Oct. 4., Hurricane Matthew is a Category 4 hurricane with maximum winds of 140 mph and wind gusts of 165 mph.
Georgia Southern University released the following statement in regards to the hurricane:
“University administrators are closely monitoring Hurricane Matthew and weather conditions for our area. There remains significant uncertainty in the track of Matthew at this time and no watches or warnings are currently issued for the State of Georgia. Therefore, at this time, we do not have any determinations related to campus closures or other precautions that may be necessary. We anticipate an update tomorrow, Wednesday, October 5.”
