Weekly volunteer trips at Georgia Southern University
October 31, 2016
The Office of Leadership and Community Engagement offers weekly volunteer trips. These trips allow students the opportunity to serve the local community and start a life of service and leadership.
There are a variety of different trips at different locations to volunteer.
Elementary school after-school garden programs
Volunteers will assist teachers in instructing elementary students as they learn about plant biology, agriculture, health and nutrition while tending to a garden. For this particular trip, volunteers are asked to wear close-toed shoes and comfortable clothes, as they will be helping with hands on activities.
Habitat for Humanity ReStore
This trip will involve organizing donations to the ReStore, picking up donations, facility repairs and fundraising. All money raised goes toward building houses for people in need in Bulloch County.
Westwood Nursing Home
Volunteers will help by spending time with the residents. Volunteers will interact one-on-one with the residents by playing games, doing arts and crafts, listening to music and socializing.
To sign up for any of the above trips or other trips, go to the Office of Leadership and Community Engagement, Russell Union room 1056.
