Van Buren Hospital to be renovated by GSU Interior Design Program
February 16, 2016
The Interior Design Program has teamed up with the Hearts & Hands Clinic of Statesboro, to help make a design for the clinic when it moves to the historic Van Buren building.
The building was first built in 1918, in order to help the African-American community of Statesboro with health care, and was named Van Buren Sanitarium after Dr. Harvey Van Buren.
The students will be working for the semester with the owner of the building, Mrs. Glenerra Martin, and the director of Hearts & Hands, Mrs. Urkovia Andrews, to create designs in order to showcase the buildings potential as a medical facility.
