Proud Heritage
September 23, 2015
The Multicultural Student and the Association of Latino American Students (ALAS.) at Georgia Southern University celebrate the start of the Latino and Hispanic Heritage Month by holding a flag parade today.
ALAS is an organization encouraging intercultural collaborations within the supporting array of Latino students on the GSU campus. Reaching out to Latino individuals and allies on campus, ALAS strives to preserve Latin American culture by promoting the culture through integrity, ethics and honesty.
Festivities included a parade of Latino and Hispanic flags along with entertainment based on Hispanic culture. The event is meant to educate GSU students on embracing the Hispanic culture through both social and educational events.
The event lasts from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. today and took place from the College of Education all the way to the Rotunda and the Russell Union.
