UGA Trounces Eagles 4-1

Hayden Boudreaux

It was a rough outing for the Georgia Southern University softball team as they

traveled to Athens tonight and came up short against No. 17 University of Georgia,

losing 4-1.

The game immediately got off to a rough start for the Eagles as two straight Bulldog

batters pounded home runs in the second inning. UGA would work the bat more

in the fifth inning, scoring their final two runs of the game. Eagle senior shortstop

Kourtny Thomas delivered a solo homer in the sixth inning but it was too little too

late.

Senior pitcher Sarah Purvis was credited with her fifth loss of the season after

pitching five innings. Fellow senior Allie Mills finished out the last inning for the

Eagles.

GSU will return home this weekend for their series against Southern Conference

opponent Western Carolina University. The first game of the double header begins

on Saturday at 1 p.m. on Eagle Field.
