The Georgia Southern University volleyball team traveled to Davidson College today and was defeated 3-2.

With the score tied 18-18 in the first set, Davidson sparked a 3-0 run and the Wildcats opened  a 24-19 cushion. Davidson went on to win the set 25-21.

The Eagles trailed 21-18 in the second set, but after the Eagles scored six straight points they tied the match 1-1.

Late in the third set, GSU had a four-point lead, but the Wildcats came back to make the score 19-18. Two kills sparked a 6-0 run for the Eagles to capture the third set and make the match 2-1.

Trailing 2-1 in the fourth set, the Wildcats held the Eagles down by forcing GSU into eleven hitting errors and eventually won the set by a score of 25-16.

Early in the fifth set with the score tied up at 4-4, Davidson used a 5-1 run to lead the Eagles 9-5. The Eagles committed two attack errors and a serving error to aid Davidson’s run. The Eagles stormed back into the match getting two kills to tie it up 11-11, setting the stage for the Wildcats’ final run, in which they served two aces and downed GSU.
