A pre-noon game would not be the cure for the Georgia Southern University women’s basketball team as they fell 103-38 to the No.7 ranked University of Kentucky.

The Eagles (0-2) played their second straight Southeastern Conference opponent to open the season.

The Wildcats were opening the season and did so in style with six players scoring in double figures.

Junior center Azia Bishop led the Wildcats with ten points and 12 rebounds while senior guard Bernisha Pinkett was the leading scorer with 19 points and four steals.

UK went into the break up 49-13 after the Eagles shot 22.7 percent from the field.

Freshman guard Angel McGowan led the Eagles with ten points, while sophomore forward Briana Jones added seven points and eight rebounds.

The key stat of the game was the turnovers as GSU lost possession of the ball 35 times while just forcing the Wildcats to commit 12 turnovers.

GSU will take on Jacksonville State University on Saturday for the Eagles home opener at 5:30 p.m. in Hanner Fieldhouse.
