Coming into Senior Night with a four-game losing streak, the Georgia Southern University men’s soccer team honored its seniors by winning 1-0 against conference foe Appalachian State University.

The Eagles snapped a four-game losing streak for the season and also ended a five-game winless streak against the Mountaineers tonight.

Senior midfielder Roberto Lopez put the Eagles over the top in the 68th minute off a pass from senior midfielder Hunter Norton and put one in from 25 yards out.

It was Lopez’s first goal of the season, while Norton provided a team leading third assist for the 2013 year.

GSU now sits at 5-8 overall and 1-3 in the Southern Conference with two conference games remaining.

The Eagles will look to build off tonight’s game and start a winning streak Tuesday when they take on Jacksonville University at home at 7 pm.
