Men’s soccer suffers loss to Mercer

The Georgia Southern University men’s soccer team came up on the wrong end of a physical game as they fell to host Mercer University by a tally of 1-0.

Both teams had a lot on the line as Mercer was looking for their first win and GSU was trying to be above .500 for the first time all year.

The game had five cards (4 yellow and 1 red) and GSU senior defender Nick Lane was on the unfortunate end of a send off in the 53rd minute.

The Eagles were down a man for the remaining half-hour, however senior goalkeeper Neal Bates had an impressive game as he recorded 11 saves. His effort was thwarted as in the 87th minute when MU senior forward Ehjayson Henry found the back of the net.

GSU will look to rebound next Friday as they travel to Asheville, NC to face off against Radford University.
