Women’s soccer defeats UTC

The first Southern Conference win for the Georgia Southern University women’s soccer team came today as they defeated the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga 2-1.

GSU trailed early, after Chattanooga’s sophomore midfielder Loryn Queen got a shot past Eagles junior goalkeeper Molly Williams in the 12th minute.

Coming out of the half GSU still trailed 0-1 until senior forward Alex Murphy sailed a shot past the Chattanooga goalkeeper with sophomore midfielder Cori Dulmage on the assist.

With the game winding down in the 80th minute sophomore forward Nora El-Shami sent the ball in the net unassisted, taking the lead for the Eagles 2-1.

In the final minute of the game Chattanooga attempted one final shot that was denied by Williams.

The Eagles will be returning home on Friday to take on Appalachian State University at 7 p.m. in Eagle Field.
