The Georgia Southern University women’s rifle team lost to Wofford College in its first competition in program history.

GSU lost the air rifle discipline match by a score of 2180-2159 to Wofford’s co-ed rifle team in the SEARC CMP Clinic in Charleston, S.C.

“I am extremely proud of how we performed against a seasoned veteran squad like Wofford,” head coach Tim Parks said in a news release. “I told the team after the meet that I am amazed how far we have come in just a short time. I am confident that we will be able to build on this first meet and show improvement in our next outing.”

The rifle team’s next match will be held on Sept. 28 against North Georgia College & State University in Griffin, Ga.
