Eagles to be featured on NBC
August 10, 2013
NBC Nightly News witnessed the Georgia Southern University football team’s first full contact practice with a keen eye on the helmets GSU players were sporting.
The new helmets are compliments of a grant the National Institutes of Health awarded GSU to help study concussions.
The Helmet Impact Telemetry System, or HITS for short, will measure helmet impact to help better protect football players from concussions.
GSU is the only school in Georgia whose football team will be using HITS so NBC was on the banks of beautiful Eagle Creek to see the system in action.
Tune in to NBC on Aug. 11 at 6:30p.m. to hear President Brooks Keel and head coach Jeff Monken’s thoughts on HITS.
