August 5, 2013
The power has been knocked out in several buildings on campus due to a wreck last night, according to an Eagle Alert.
The accident happened on Chandler road close to intersection of Knight Drive, Chief Michael Russell of the Department of Public Safety, said.
The driver of the vehicle was not seriously injured when the airbags deployed and refused treatment from the EMS, Russell said. The driver was cited.
“What he hit caused all the problems,” Russell said. “He hit the actual power switch, one of those big green boxes.”
Faculty and staff located in the College of Business Administration building, Performing Arts Center, Forest Drive Building, Nursing/Chemistry building, Watson Hall, Old Physical Plant, Information Technology and Engineering building, Health Center and Counseling Center are all excused from work today according to the Eagle Alert.
Georgia Power is handling repairs and it is unsure when the power will be back on, Russell said.
