Saturday night at the Emma Kelley Theater students and Statesboro citizens have the chance to get a glimpse of a time gone by with a tribute performance to “The King.”

The king of rock-n-roll will gyrate for an audience at the Averitt Center for the Arts Saturday night in “Elvis: A Concert Experience.”

Elvis tribute performer Jim Jinelli will be at the Emma Kelley Theater Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $18 for adults and $15 for youth.

“Elvis is an icon. He has influenced so many artists in modern music. This show is as close as you’ll get to hearing Elvis live in Vegas,” Kate Fitch, marketing director at the Averitt Center for the Arts said.

Jinelli will perform songs from the “Jumpsuit” era of Presley’s career, including songs like “In the Ghetto,” “Don’t Cry Daddy” and “Kentucky Rain.”

“I’m excited to perform Saturday. Even though Presley has been gone for a while his music is still alive and well,” Jinelli said.

Jinelli has been doing Elvis tribute performances for over 10 years and this will be his first performance in Statesboro, Fitch said.

Fitch said, “If you were too young to see Elvis play in the day, this will show you why he’s the king of Rock-n-Roll.”
