Wilcox invited to NFL Scouting Combine
February 9, 2013
The invitation list for the National Football League Scouting Combine was released Thursday and Georgia Southern University’s All-American J.J. Wilcox will participate.
The NFL Scouting Combine is a week-long showcase event in Indianapolis Ind. lasting Feb. 20-26. Wilcox earned a spot on the Senior Bowl’s South roster and garnered the attention of several NFL teams during the week leading up to the game last month in Mobile Ala.
The invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine still came as a little bit of a shock to Wilcox.
“It is a dream come true and I am so excited, it could have been anybody in the world who received this opportunity,” Wilcox said in a news release. “Without the guys on my team, and our defense, I wouldn’t be where I am right now. Everything they did gave me a chance to get exposure and allow me the chance to take this next step. I am going to cherish every second and make sure I do the best I can to represent Georgia Southern University, my team and our alumni and fans.”
Wilcox is currently in Florida preparing for his opportunities at the next level with a regiment that includes speed training, strength and conditioning and meetings with coaches to work on technique and NFL game strategy.
The NFL Network will provide four days of coverage of the “Path to Primetime” from the NFL Scouting Combine on Feb. 23-26.
