Three game winning streak snapped
February 16, 2013
Southern Illinois University got a small measure of revenge today as it knocked off the Georgia Southern University softball team 10-1.
SIU was on the wrong end of the first perfect game in GSU history on Friday, but today the scoreboard told a different story.
Starting pitcher sophomore Brooke Red and reliever sophomore Marla Thompson combined to give up six runs on 10 hits.
The Eagles struggled to get outs and score runs, a recipe for defeat. Junior shortstop Kourtny Thomas drove in the only run of the game for GSU in the first inning.
After a double by senior first baseman Tabby Douberley, Thomas stepped to the plate a drove an RBI single to right field.
The pop has to return to the Eagle’s bats soon if they plan on defeating the University of Alabama today at 3:45.
