College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) named Georgia Southern University’s senior defensive tackle Brent Russell the 2012 recipient of the Elite Defensive Tackle Award.

Russell assisted the Eagles to their third-straight semifinal appearance and finished his career at GSU as the all-time leader in career sacks after adding his 25^th sack in the final game of the season at North Dakota State University.

Russell is a three-year All-American and he finished the 2012 season with 44 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss.

The CFPA’s goal is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. The CFPA recognizes all award recipients and selects based on objective scientific rankings where the individual players increase the overall success of their teams.
