Georgia Southern University Men’s Soccer team (2-6) suffered a crushing loss this past weekend as they lost by a score of 5-0 to Jacksonville University Dolphins (1-6-1).

JU Sophomore Forward Matheus Soroli scored the first of his two goals on the day with an early goal in the 10th minute putting the Dolphins ahead.

JU managed to score a second goal in the 33rd minutes and went into halftime up 2-0.

The second half took a turn for the worse as GSU went down a man when Junior Defender Nick Lane was sent off after receiving yellow cards in the 50th and 60th minutes.

For the last half-hour of the match GSU played at a disadvantage. JU took the most of this and proceeded to score three more goals in the 63rd, 69th, and 81st minute of the match.

The score ended in a final of five goals to zero in favor of the Dolphins. Both teams took 15 shots however the Eagles only managed to put one on frame, compared to JU’s eight.

The Eagles next game is Wednesday against Presbyterian College (1-7). Both teams are on losing streaks with the Eagles at 5 games in a row and the Blue Hose dropping six of their last seven.
