Tormenta FC dropped Tuesday’s match 5-0 to league leading North Texas SC. The defeat puts Tormenta at 0-2-3 in their last five games, but tied for third place in the league overall.

North Texas scored its first goal at the 29 minute mark, as league assist leader Arturo Rodriguez narrowly placed a ball over the Tormenta defense to open the onslaught. North Texas’ Richard Danso scored following a corner kick five minutes later.

North Texas scored again in the fourth minute of extra time to close the first half when Ricardo Pepi converted a penalty for the first of his two goals on the evening. The approach that resulted in a low scoring draw the last time these two teams played did not work this time, as North Texas again dominated time of possession but found ample cracks in the Tormenta defense, especially on second chances.

Substitute Gibran Rayo scored in the 82 minute to further expand the lead, and North Texas more than thoroughly emphasized their dominance with a goal in the first minute of extra time. North Texas’ reserve goalie recorded three saves for the team’s tenth blank slate of the season.
