The Southern Creative Anachronists (SCA) will be outside the Russell Union by the Rotunda from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. today and tomorrow.

The organization is selling bratwursts to raise money for breast cancer awareness. The meal is $5.

SCA is a renaissance and medieval reenactment group, whose activities include medieval music, food and weaving.

“We know a master blacksmith who can make his own weapons and armor, but he prefers woodworking. This group does a little bit of everything,” Carl Cox, SCA fighter captain and hospitality officer and senior IT major, said.

He has been working in breathing fire and can currently swallow fire.

“Tuesday we had a class on herbal remedies,” Elizabeth Kicklighter, SCA president and senior sociology major, said. “[Medieval] doctors were expensive so they learned what herbs would numb the body or relieve the muscles.”

SCA is a global group, with organizations in countries like Canada and Japan.

“We do battle reenactments. Women can fight and they’re terrifying,” Bryant Richards, organization points master and sophomore creative writing major, said.

The Georgia Southern University group is part of the Meridies kingdom.
