Women’s rugby is a club sport on campus and their members are outside at the Rotunda today. The team goes on several camping tournaments in the North Georgia Mountains. This year the team is even going to the Mardi Gras Tournament in New Orleans.
Most of the team has little experience in rugby, so if you are interested in joining don’t let a lack of experience stop you from checking it out. Keep in mind that rugby is a contact sport, much like football. Women’s rugby also offers a family environment to its team.
“We hang out all the time at the rugby house,” Melina Gunby, a sophomore criminal justice and psychology double major, said.
The team has two home games on January 24th and February 31st. If you are looking for a fun sport and a way to make new friends, Women’s Rugby is a viable option. Practice times are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6 to 8 on the RAC fields behind the alumni center, last field on the left.
