South Carolina native becomes latest Georgia Southern commit
June 22, 2019
Brandon Wilson, a Beaufort, South Carolina native, committed to Georgia Southern via Twitter Saturday.
“I want to thank all my coaches for instilling in me all the tools that I needed to be in this position,” he wrote. “I want to thank the Georgia Southern staff for having faith in my abilities. With that being said, I’m 1000% committed to play at Georgia Southern University.”
Wilson received offers from other schools including Navy, Furman and Coastal Carolina.
The 6-foot-1 athlete will be playing as a defensive end when he arrives in Statesboro for the 2020 season.
“I chose Georgia Southern because of the core values that they live by,” Wilson said. “They are a team that expects to win not only on the football field, but in life as well. That blue collar work ethic is what can make me a better man.”
His father has played an integral role in his life, acting as both as a parent and head varsity football coach for Battery Creek High School where his son has been making waves.
“My dad has been building my whole life as a man and as a player,” Wilson said. “I wouldn’t be in the position that I am in right now without him. He’s my biggest supporter and my biggest critic, which only makes me better.”
