Georgia Southern baseball squared off against the College of Charleston at Historic Grayson Stadium in Savannah 3-1, improving their record to 16-13 on the season.

Despite only accumulating seven hits through the course of the game, the Eagles lead from the very first inning of play, when redshirt senior Tyler Martin drove in junior Steven Curry with an RBI double to open up the scoring at 1-0. GS got runs in the bottom of the second and fifth innings, all behind hits from Curry, who matched a career high with four hits in his 4-for-4 night. In addition to his four hits on the night, Curry crossed home plate twice for two runs scored.

Tyler Martin led the way for the Eagles with two runs batted in, increasing his season tally to 20.

On the mound, junior RHP Tyler Owens continued his brilliance hurling the rock, going seven innings allowing just one run on his way to his fourth win of the season. At 4-0, Owens has gone seven innings or deeper in each of his four starts.

Sophomore LHP Hayden Harris came in for relief, and would earn his third save of the season.

The Eagles return to conference play against rival App State this weekend up in Boone, NC.

At 5-4 in conference, GS looks to sweep their conference foe and improve ranking within the Sun Belt. Junior RHP Seth Shuman takes the mound in the series opener on Friday night, with first pitch slated for 6 p.m.
