Arguably the Eagles’ best player tweeted his displeasure with his touches after Saturday’s loss

WEST POINT, NY—After a dogfight against Army that resulted in an extremely controversial Georgia Southern loss, many Eagle fans were understandably upset.

Not only did this upset the fans, but star running back Wesley Kennedy III would voice his opinion on his recent usage in a string of tweets posted less than two hours after the game was completed.

Kennedy tweeted, “I want to be used to my FULL POTENTIAL … I am a PLAYMAKER , USE ME!!”

This statement drew loads of attention from Eagle fans, players, and alumni. The response from those on the outside was almost unanimously on Kennedy’s side, as he is widely regarded as one of the most electrifying players in America.

A little more than 45 minutes later, Kennedy tweeted again, “No selfishness intended to my last tweet. I want to WIN & TO DO IT AS A TEAM . It takes ALL 11.”

The George-Anne reached out to Bryan Johnston, senior associate athletic director for communications, for comment on Kennedy’s tweets. Citing the return trip back to Statesboro, Johnston didn’t have any comment.

The lack of touches for Kennedy has puzzled every Georgia Southern fan and analyst as there seems to be no concrete reason as to why he is simply not getting the ball.

For his entire career, Kennedy averages nearly eight yards a carry every time he touches the ball. If you only look at the 2020 season, this number jumps to over eight yards per touch, good enough for ninth in the nation.

Many Eagle fans have been extremely critical of offensive coordinator Bob DeBesse, who is in his third year at Georgia Southern. However, many fans are still skeptical to point the finger at anyone for Kennedy’s lack of usage.

One thing is certain, if Georgia Southern wants to compete with the best of the best, Wesley Kennedy III must be an integral part of the offense. While the other running backs have performed extremely well this season, Kennedy simply provides an energy to the offense that seemingly no other player can provide.
