The Georgia Southern softball team fell to the North Florida Ospreys, 4-0, due to a slow night for Eagle offense.

GS kept the game tied at zero for the first three innings, but UNF got on the board in the fourth to make it a 2-0 game.

With these runs, sophomore pitcher Rylee Waldrep entered the game, looking to stop the ball long enough for GS to get on the board. Two Osprey home runs later, GS falls behind 4-0.

GS had the opportunity for a comeback in the fifth inning, when freshman infielder Ashlynn Gunter and sophomore outfielder Ellington Day reached bases due to UNF errors. A double out play and slow Eagle run ended this score attempt.

The GS offense was held to just three hits the entire game. These were posted from junior outfielder Shelby Wilson, freshman first baseman Faith Shirley, and senior infielder Hannah Farrell.

UNF was led by runs from freshman catcher Paige Pfent, sophomore infielder Mackenzie Griffin, freshman infielder Veronica Klimplova, and senior outfielder Dominica Cocuzza.

Fortunately, this loss does not affect the conference record, but it puts the Eagles to 13-11 overall. This extends the losing streak to four games.

GS will be back in action against Coastal Carolina on Eagle Field this weekend. Due to weather issues, the first pitch will be thrown at 2 p.m. on Friday instead of 5 p.m.
