Georgia Southern baseball travels to Texas where they open up 2019 Sun Belt Conference play against UT-Arlington.

The Eagles come in off of a narrow road loss to Georgia Tech during the week, and with a 7-8 overall record, look to start off the conference play fast. On the home side, the Mavericks come in at 11-6 with a non-conference schedule that featured just one game against a power five conference team, losing to Oklahoma 1-9 on Tuesday. In comparison, GS has faced four different power-five teams, including ranked Auburn and UGA.

A year after finishing 18-11 in the conference the Eagles look to build off of last year’s success, and are primed to do so with the pitching match ups this weekend. Once again GS will send out the trio of junior RHP Seth Shuman, freshman LHP Braden Hays, and redshirt-senior RHP Daniel Collins in what has become the expected weekend lineup.

Offensively, the Eagles’ bats need to continue to heat up if they want to be successful in conference action. Since March 6, when Mercer made its way to J.I. Clements Stadium and got a 13-3 pummeling, GS has continuously managed to put up runs, scoring at least five runs per game.

The three game series from Arlington gets started Friday night at 7:30 p.m. ET. First pitch for Saturday afternoon will be 3 p.m. and the finale will start at 1 p.m. ET.
