Preview: Softball looks to rebound from loss while taking on ranked UGA and conference opponent UL

The Georgia Southern softball team will face both the University of Georgia and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette this coming week as they look to rebound from their recent 2-4 loss to UTA.

No. 12 UGA (25-9; 1-5)

The UGA Bulldogs are currently looking at a five game losing streak while sitting on an overall record of 25-9 and a conference record of 1-5, with their most recent series of losses being to LSU.

As a team UGA bats an average on.321 while totalling 248 runs and 276 hits. The Bulldogs have also totaled 51 home runs as well as logging a slugging percentage of .581.

Leading UGA at the bats is Alyssa DiCarlo, notching a .427 batting average while logging 43 runs and 38 hits on 89 at bats. DiCarlo has also tallied an impressive 18 home runs while showing a 1.157 slugging percentage.

The Eagles can probably expect to see leading pitcher Amanda Ablan on the mound as she’s logged an ERA of 0.78 on the season as well as logging 10 strikeouts and only one error.

The first pitch is set for 6 p.m. on Wednesday in Athens and the match will be streamed SEC Network+.

UL (26-4; 9-0)

The Ragin’ Cajuns are on a three-game winning streak while still being undefeated in the conference.

As a team UL shows a batting average of .355 while logging a total of 242 runs, 273 hits and 46 home runs. Julie Rawls leads at the bats with a .478 batting average as well as notching nine home runs.

Pitching-wise the Eagles should expect to see leading pitcher Summer Ellyson who’s logged a 1.40 ERA on the season while throwing 153 strikeouts in 130 total innings pitched.

The Eagles are set to take on the Ragin’ Cajuns in a three game series starting Friday with game one at 6 p.m. in Statesboro. Friday and Sunday’s games will be streamed on ESPN+ while Saturday’s will be shown on True Blue Live.
