Georgia Southern University’s counselor of legal affairs Amber Culpepper has taken over the role of Interim Director of Equal Opportunity and Title IX after the departure of former director Joel Wright.

Wright left GS to become the general counsel at to Albany State University. Culpepper’s appointment became effective March 1, 2019.

“The role of Title IX Coordinator is extremely important to the University,” Jennifer Wise, director of communications said. “It is equally important that everyone be able to identify our Title IX Coordinator and be aware of his or her function.”

Culpepper is a GS alumna, receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2006. She also received her Juris Doctor from the George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C., in 2009.

Culpepper has served as Counsel in the Office of Legal Affairs since 2015.
