Preview: Softball to begin conference play at home against long-time rival
March 7, 2019
The 13-7 Georgia Southern softball team begins conference play this weekend against rival Appalachian State on Eagle Field after a sudden change in location.
Coming off of a 2-3 weekend at the 2019 Madeira Beach Invitational, GS is led by senior infielder and catcher Logan Harrell, who has accumulated 18 runs. She holds a team high eight home run record so far this season.
The Mountaineers, who are 9-6 overall, are led by junior utility player Keri White. Behind her 19 hits and .392 batting average, she has proven to be a solid player.
State has a strong pitcher in junior Kenzie Longanecker. Last season, she posted the fifth highest number of strikeouts in the Sun Belt. She held Marshall University to just two hits in seven innings and put struck out eight Dartmouth University batters.
GS sweeped the Mountaineers last season 3-0 on Eagle Field.
Thursday and Friday’s games can be streamed on True Blue TV, and Saturday’s game can be followed through live stats on GSEagles.
